After supplying the European Women’s Under 19 Championships in Wales back in August Mark Harrod Ltd is proud to be title sponsor of the new Football Association of Wales (FAW) Futsal League. The launch celebrates Wales’ first and only National Futsal League.
The eight clubs have been split into two regional conferences of four teams. In the south, Cardiff City Futsal Club, who are the futsal arm of the Premier League club, will battle it out with capital city rivals Cardiff University, Cambrian & Clydach Futsal and Neath Port Talbot Panthers.
The Northern Conference features current FAW Futsal Cup Champions Wrexham Futsal, as well as Northern Dragons, Saltney Town and Rhyl Futsal Club.
Futsal is the only FIFA, UEFA and FAW recognised small-sided version of the beautiful game.
The launch of the National League is a strategic objective of the FAW and follows the National Cup and the National Team as the latest futsal initiatives in Wales.
Welsh Futsal Manager Richard Gunney was delighted with the new initiative and said; “The National League is another excellent development for futsal in Wales. It’s a further opportunity for Welsh players to gain more Futsal experience and it provides a shop window for current and future Wales International futsal players.
FAW Head of Competitions Andrew Howard added; “I’m delighted that the FAW have shown further commitment to futsal in Wales. The FAW and the Welsh Football Trust see Futsal as an opportunity to support the strategic aims of the organisation and provide opportunities for people in Wales.”
